Packing Socks & Underwear

I’ve started packing, and thought I would share a way to make self-contained “day-packs”.

In this case, each pack contains a pair of socks and boxers, but you can also add a T-Shirt if you want. The advantage is each pack is self contained, so you don’t need to sort through your suitcase/bag/carboot looking for a clean pair of clothes and matching them up. The elastic on the sock also compresses things a bit. Finally, if packing t-shirts this way, the rolling action stops them from getting wrinkled (thus meaning less time ironing and more time enjoying the sun!)

Step 1:
Place your largest garment that you need in the day pack flat, and fold to half the size of a sock. In this case, boxers just need to be folded in half.

Step 2:
Place the socks on top, so that the open end of the sock sticks “out” of the garment.

Step 3:
Roll the lot together, keeping it as compressed and tight as possible.

Step 4:

Now fold the open end of the socks over, one at a time. Creating a tight roll.

The final product is quite easy to carry, and shove into any free space in your bag.
